Hb is a social technology for diagnosing and reducing the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia in schools.

COLLABORATIVE CONSTRUCTION (2010 - 2013)

Social technology was developed by IPTI researchers and professionals from the Health and Education departments of Santa Luzia do Itanhy, seeking to generate a solution that would fit the municipality's technical and financial capacity.

EFFICACY (2013)

Hb technology has been shown to reduce the prevalence rate of iron deficiency anemia in schools by over 80%.

SCALABILITY (2015-2017)

The Hb was disseminated to 2 municipalities, from 2 Brazilian states, in a model where the most experienced technicians from Santa luzia do Itanhy acted as reapplicators.

IMPROVEMENT (2018 )

Development of a new device for measuring blood hemoglobin rate using paper-based microfluidics analytical devices (μPAD) technology, in partnership with the São Carlos Institute of Chemistry (IQSC / USP)

Concrete results, with direct influence on human development.

Over 80% reduction in anemia cases in schools.

The Hb campaign is fully managed by TAG, including the assessment of students with malnutrition and obesity.
