about the social technology Hb

The Iron Deficiency Anemia is the most prevalent nutritional deficiency worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it reaches 25% of the world population where children and pregnant women are the most vulnerable groups. Recent studies suggest a percentage between 20 and 50% of students from public schools in Brazil with anaemia, which makes this an alarming picture, since this health problem is directly associated with low mental and motor performance in child.

The Social Technology Hb was developed to allow the diagnosis, treatment and control of anaemia in schools, in a sustainable way, allowing to create programs to overcome anaemia by associating low cost and simplified management and monitoring process.

This Social Technology was produced by a team of research and development composed by researchers from the Research Institute for Technology and Innovation (IPTI) and professionals of the Department of Health and the Department of Education of the Santa Luzia Itanhy, municipality where IPTI's main research office is located.
